Abstract:
In recent years, mineral oil hydrocarbons have been widely found in foods and food contact materials.Mineral oil Hydrocarbons are mainly the by product of petroleum refining process, which have received increasing attention globally because of their potential harmfulness to human beings.Determination of mineral oil hydrocarbons has been found to be a big challenge as their compositions are quite complex. The recent advances in analytical techniques have made contribution to facilitate this approach.Various extraction and purification methods have already been established, which are applicable to specific matrix. As for the analysis methods, solid phase extraction/gas chromatography(SPE/GC),gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS),liquid chromatography-gas chromatography(LC-GC),two dimensional gas spectrometry(GC×GC) and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) have been established to quantify the specific content of mineral oil.The latest research progresses on main aspects of analytical techniques are presented in this paper, particularly the quantification of mineral oil in foods and food contact materials, which could provide references for further application and research.
